Again and again throughout the Gospels, we find Jesus withdrawing from the crowds into quiet places. Before teaching, before choosing His disciples, after performing miracles, and in moments of deep sorrow, He sought the Father's presence.
This painting is my reflection on those hidden moments.
I wanted to capture the quiet longing in Jesus' gaze—not a longing born of distance, but the deep desire to remain continually turned toward the Father. His earthly life was lived in complete dependence, trust, and love. Even surrounded by people, He continually returned to that place of communion through silence and prayer.
As I painted, I realized that His gaze is also an invitation to us.
In every moment when we need wisdom, strength, comfort, reassurance, or simply the reminder that we are not alone, we too can lift our eyes to the Father. Jesus showed us where to turn. His life reveals that prayer is not merely asking for help—it is returning again and again to the One who loves us.
My hope is that this painting becomes more than a portrait. I hope it gently invites you to pause, to look upward, and to remember that the Father's presence is always near.
